Sorry. Not all Africans have Ebola.

WHAT'S UP, BLOGGER.

Have you heard about the Ebola outbreak?
If you haven't, it's either because you've been under a very, very heavy rock or this is the future, we survived the outbreak, and no even remembers that there was Ebola in the USA.

If either of those are true, read up.

Yes, it is quite scary. Fear manifests during times of the unknown. Ebola is one of those mystery diseases that just wasn't supposed to affect us in America. And now, as of this blog, a man has died from it in Dallas, Texas and several have been quarantined.

By the way, I live 30 minutes from Dallas.

Panic has insued. People don't want to go to work. If you sneeze, you are ostracized and if you cough, there's a riot.

As a person who has worked in healthcare, there are certain facts that you cannot avoid when it comes to Ebola:
  1. You cannot catch from a nonsick person. You cannot catch it from a nonsick person. You cannot catch it from a nonsick person. YOU CANNOT CATCH IT FROM A NONSICK PERSON.
  2. If a person starts to manifest symptoms, you cannot catch it in the air.
  3. Ebola is a contact disease. That person has to vomit, spit, bleed, or sneeze in your open wound, mouth, open genitals, or eyeballs*
*please note: don't let anyone vomit in your open genitals, even if you are well.

Ok. We have that out of the way. Now, to what I really want to get at.

I get what she is saying. And I will even take a litter further: Not all Africans you come in contact with have Ebola.

It is unfortunate that we choosing fight against the person vs against the disease.

Remember, there are have over 4,00 deaths out of a population of 1 billion, with 10,000 infected. That makes the chances of coming in contact with an infected person 1 in 10,000.

I heard people say, I'm not going to shake hands with an African. Well, that's ok because they probably don't want to shake hands with a prejudice idiot.

Be kind to each, wash your hands after touching the doorknobs in public restrooms, and spend more time protecting yourself from the flu.

Peace!
