...now that that is out of the the way, allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Tessa.

Last name is White. However I am not.

This blog(and soon to be Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube channel, Twitter, SOCIAL MEDIA!!) is not about that though. Well, not always. 

This is about me, Tessa and my musings. But I need your help. If there is a topic that you want me to talk about, let me know. Anything really(not too graphic). I am always talking to myself anyways and now I have an avenue.

Why is this blog called Tessa Is Not White?

Great question.

I know I am not the only black girl out there that has heard:

"Tessa, you talk so white."

"Tessa, I'm blacker than you!"

"Tessa, what do you mean you've never heard of (INSERT NEW RAPPER HERE). You're black!"

"Tessa, you know, your last name is White, but you're not White. You're black!"

"Tessa, you are totally white on the inside"

I chuckle, act like it's original, roll my eyes, and move on. I GUESS I can understand where the stereotype comes from. Most stereotypes stem from some truth. But, in the 21st century, how is it still valid?

Truths about myself:

1. My favorite band of all time is the Beatles.
2. My favorite movie of all time is Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
3. My favorite vacation destination is England.
4. I love most music, but have an infinity for rock and most of it's subgenres(can't be havin' death metal)
5. Rap and R&B=meh

Those are my preferences. Is it so bad to be diverse? 

If you are a teenager girl of color, don't allow it bother you. As a teenager, I would get furious when people called me white. Now I laugh...at them, because they choose to live in a tiny, boring world while I am dancing to bachata music and watching Doctor Who!
