*PUMP. THE. BRAKES!*
Before you go thinking I am standing up for the uber-popular reality star, hear me out.
Let's face the facts: our economy is terrible. As of this post, the national debt is over $17 TRILLION. Not million or billion. TRILLION.
*****BORING FACT ALERT*****
In 2010, according to the census, about 75% of the US population made less than $50K, with about 48% being under $25K. In Texas, minimum wage is $7.25/hr or about $15K per year.
That same year, The Kardashian Klan made about $65 MILLION dollars. That year alone.
I am making about minimum wage right now and live paycheck-to-paycheck just to make ends meet. It's not fun. I have a 2007 Ford Focus with a broken mirror (that I can't afford to fix) and tires that seriously need to be replaced( but don't have the funds(.
Kim and Kayne reportedly spent up to $12 MILLION on their wedding.
It seriously upsets me that our nation is in a financial crisis but I get to see "news" of Kimye clothing their baby in Givenchy.
It upsets me....
IT UPSETS ME...but...I don't hate them.
I don't hate anyone. Do I like everyone? Of course not, but HATE?? Come on. I don't even know them.
It seems like we do them, with what the media forces down our throats, but, in the end, they are just people.
In this article from 2012, in a poll of 9,000 NYers, Kim was the SECOND MOST HATED person in America. As a matter of fact, here are the top three:
- Casey Anthony, 19.8%
- Kim Kardashian, 17.3%
- Jerry Sandusky, 16.8%
If this blog is being read in the far future, let me just remind you about numbers 1 and 3.
Casey Anthony- Accused of killing her baby in 2008 and pronounced not guilty, though almost EVERYONE that she was. Hated by most of America(still, in 2014)
Jerry Sandusky- Former Penn State coach. Accused and convicted in 2012 of molesting/abusing about 50 children during his career. Hated by quite a bit of America(even those who don't know anything about his career)
Numbers 1 and 3= absolute horrible people. We can agree on that right?
Kim at number 2? A HORRIBLE person? Mmmmmmmm...I don't think so.
The video above was posted by a blogger named Mark Dice. If you want to watch it, feel free but I will save you the time: He completely trashes her, calling her talentless, trash, and a twig. He spends most of his time accusing everyone of being in the Illuminati*
*ps, whoever smelt it, dealt it*
Why in the world would we, as people who do not know these people, say such things? Is it jealousy for their glamorous lives? Possibly. Is it envy because they can sit around, drinking courvoisier and going to clubs every night? Could be. But why would this spawn HATE? What Mr. Dice displays is classic hate-speech. Of course, he is protected by the First Amendment with freedom of speech but why waste that freedom on this? Everyone has an opinion, sure, but seriously, how would you feel if I came into your house and called your daughter/sister/mother/grandmother/best friend a whore, slut, and trash? What if I walked up to you in the street and just spat in your baby's face?
We can't avoid it: Celebrities are here, they spend their money, and they live in luxury. We have some options:
- Be angry, curse their family, and spend our time on social media slamming them.
- Boycott, start a petition and hope everyone follows along.
- Get over it
Can I interest you in option no. 3?
Yes, this post was very Kardashian heavy, but it applies to all celebrities. The golden rule is golden for a reason.
Peace!
